This site is changing, for the latest information about Bike for Bibles see the new Bike for Bibles Blog.
Bike for Bibles is a fund raising initiative of The Bible Society. Since 1984 we have raised over $8 million for Bible Society projects worldwide. This has enabled many thousands around the world to learn to read using God's word.
People
overcome many personal, physical, and spiritual
challenges to be involved in the exciting and vital
ministry of Bike for Bibles.
Rides range from just a few kilometres to much
longer marathon rides, with events planned around
Australia and overseas. You can be part of Bike for
Bibles by riding, joining the support crew, praying,
or making tax deductible donations.
Give the gift of literacy, and God's life giving
Word.
The Bible Society in Australia was started in 1817. It is an interdenominational organisation devoted to putting the Bible into people's hands. Their official aim is to ;
`provide the Word of God to all people, in their own language, in a format they can use and at a price they can afford.'
The Bible Society is part of a large network of similar organisations, numbering 120, and located in 200 countries.
Parts of the Bible have now been translated into over 2,300 languages. Complete Bibles are available in 900 languages.
